Notes:
The carnation was shot in natural light on a
window sill with a fill in light from the front to balance the
shadows. Some darkroom manipulation was required to achieve the
desired effect such as removing unwanted shadows and developing
the desired density of the flower head. The gold toning gives a
slate blue hue to the print and gives greater definition amongst
the petals. The softness of the print is produced by using a
multi-grade warm tone paper set on grade 1, which also helps the
gold toner add the subtle colour hue.
