I
keep an acoustic guitar in the house to remind me that sometimes we can
stray from the path. For those that don't know, an acoustic guitar is
different from a classical guitar in a few respects. The acoustic has
steel strings, the neck is 1/8" narrower and it has 14 frets to the
neck. There are also a few other construction differences.
This
photograph was taken in a studio with two studio flash lamps onto Pan F
50 film which helps bring out the grain of the wood. During the darkroom
process, extra burning was employed to remove the background detail and
place the emphasis on the shape of the guitar. The blue toning gives the
feel to the picture and really brought out the grain of the wood. The
paper was a resin coated, multi contrast paper which was important in
producing the striking contrasts in the photograph.
