The test print has been completed and you should now be only too aware that the problem with test strips is that the whole (important) area has not been tested at the selected time. So the next stage is to make a test print of the important area. Place a piece of paper under the enlarger and expose for your estimated exposure time. The image here was 45 seconds. Notice that I am not exposing the whole image, just the important area. The print was developed and dried and came out as this:

Note that although on the test strip, 45 seconds seemed to complete the definition of the flower head, in particular the right hand side, when the next print is made it becomes apparent that 45 second will not suffice. I re-exposed at 50 seconds to produce this:

At 50 seconds the right hand side has sufficient definition , but the left hand side is over cooked. A bit of dodging will take care of this. Go onto the next page for the straight print.
